Clarence Veigel is born in Napoleon, OH
1930
In his own building specialty sales company, Veigel begins selling Kinnear doors and their new sectional door
1939
He begins selling Ro-way garage doors from Rowe Mfg. of Galesburg, Illinois
1946
As Acme Automatic Door Co. of Toledo, Veigel becomes one of the first dealers for the new Raynor Mfg. Co. of Dixon, IL, He soon adds Detroit Rolling Door as branch operations in Detroit.

Veigel sells Acme Automatic and Detroit Rolling Door
1950
As Toledo Rolling Door, Veigel manufactures flush door sections
1950
Attempting to erase the widespread confusion and inconsistency of spring calculations, he begins work on dozens of torsion spring engineering charts
1953
Veigel establishes Veigel Mfg. and manufactures track
1957
Resigns as President of Veigel Mfg. to manufacture torsion spring castings at EVCO Industries of Toledo, OH
1958
At age 60, Clarence Veigel publishes his "Torsion Spring Rate Book," containing about 200 spring charts
1959
Veigel sells Evco Industries. He helps other firms set up their own spring manufacturing operations, such as

On April 6, at age 63, Veigel establishes Service Spring Corporation in Toledo, Ohio
1963
Service Spring's sales volume reaches $150,000 in its first full year

The company moves to Rossford, Ohio
1972
The firm relocates to Perrysburg Township
1973
Veigel becomes chairman of the board at Service Spring; Pat McAlear, his son-in-law, becomes President. Marilyn McAlear becomes CFO
1977
Service Spring moves to a new building in Millbury, Ohio. Plant extensions are added in 1985 and 1991
1982
The company offers the industry's first spring warranty
1983
Clarence Veigel dies at age 85
1987
Service Spring Corp purchases Clean Rite Corp now known as Draincables Direct
